After a two-year hiatus, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi has returned to the music scene with his new single “Survive” — a raw, emotional anthem inspired by his mental health journey.
The singer stepped away from the spotlight in 2023 following an emotional peak at Glastonbury, where he battled severe anxiety and chose to prioritise his wellbeing.

Capaldi says therapy is the key factor in his recovery and creative comeback. Now, in partnership with the online therapy portal, BetterHelp, he’s helping others access the same support that changed his life.
Together, they’re giving away 734,000 hours of free therapy, a symbolic gesture representing the 734 days Capaldi took off to heal. Fans will receive one free month of BetterHelp therapy as part of the campaign.
As part of the initiative, Capaldi has released an intimate video through BetterHelp, in which he opens up for the first time about navigating anxiety, finding the right therapist, and how therapy helped him feel “the best he’s felt.”

The musician emphasised that therapy is the reason why he was able to get back into making music again.
“I don’t think I’ll ever stop going after the impact it’s had on my life. I want to support my fans as they’ve supported me,” said Capaldi
BetterHelp’s Chief Growth Officer, Sara Brooks, praised the singer’s openness, saying it is incredibly powerful to have someone as globally recognised as Lewis Capaldi speak so authentically about therapy.
“It helps break the stigma and reminds people they’re not alone,” added Brooks
Capaldi’s return to Glastonbury with a surprise performance marked a full-circle moment—proof not only of his resilience, but of the strength that comes from seeking help.
