Cape Ballet Africa returns to the Drama Factory, making its much-anticipated return to The Drama Factory with Intermezzo, a captivating new programme of short works. Following the company’s acclaimed 2024 performances at the venue and their exceptional debut at the Artscape Opera House, Intermezzo offers audiences an unforgettable artistic experience from 16 to 25 May.

This powerful and emotionally resonant production celebrates classical and contemporary ballet, showcasing the versatility and talent of Cape Ballet Africa’s dancers. One of the highlights of the show, Celebrating Tchaikovsky, features selections from the composer’s most beloved ballet scores, including The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker. These iconic works form the foundation for a beautiful suite, spotlighting the grace and strength of the Company’s performers.

Desiderata, inspired by Max Ehrmann’s iconic prose poem, adds depth to the programme. A collection of original works by South African choreographers, it is accompanied by narration from acclaimed actor Marcel Meyer, delivering the poem’s timeless message with emotional resonance.

INTERMEZZO will be presented at The Drama Factory on:

 

16, 17, 23 and 24 May at 19h30

17 and 24 May at 15h00

18 and 25 May at 16h00

 The Drama Factory, located at 10 Comprop Square, Henry Vos Close, Asla Business Park, Strand, Western Cape, is the ideal venue to enjoy this ballet performance.

With a fully licensed bar, warm atmosphere, and solar-powered inverter ensuring uninterrupted shows during load-shedding, it offers a top-tier theatre experience. Tickets are R280 each, with a group discount of R260 per ticket for bookings of four or more. Ample parking is available on-site.
