Western Cape Head of Health, Dr Keith Cloete says there has been a worrying decrease in the number of people getting inoculated, not just here in the Western Cape, but also in the rest of the country. He says the province’s healthcare facilities have sufficient doses of vaccine, to inoculate thousands of people on a daily basis.

It is being reported that almost 200 000 people received the jab on Friday and more than 107 000 on Saturday. Over 59 000 doses were administered yesterday, five and a half times more than the previous Sunday. The government had set a target of half a million inoculations over the weekend but fell short by over 144 000. In some areas, paper-recorded doses still need to be added to the total. In total more than 17.8-million doses have been administered with more than 9-million South Africans, fully vaccinated against the virus.
