Visit the Dinosaur Interpretive Centre for free, for now. The South African National Parks unveiled the Centre, based in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park, over the weekend.

South Africans need an ID to access the centre for free, for the next couple of months. The free visit can be taken up until 30 September 2025.

Dinosaur Centre – A unique interactive facility

 

The Head of Communications and Spokesperson for SANParks, JP Louw says Sunday, 22 June 2025, marked a significant date in the calendar of South Africa’s cultural heritage. This is as the Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Interpretive Centre was launched at Golden Gate Highlands National Park. This Park is located in the Free State, near the town of Clarens.

World-class scientific knowledge

 

Louw says the Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Interpretive Centre is a unique interactive facility that offers visitors an innovative, creative and quality demonstration of world-class scientific knowledge in the paleontological, archaeological and geological disciplines.

Louw says as a result of their announcement, schools, tertiary students, communities adjacent to Golden Gate Highlands National Park and Thabo Mafutsenyane District Municipality residents will be amongst South Africans who stands to benefit from this offering.

 

A significant development

 

All visitors qualify for free entry to the centre. To enter for free, you are required to present a valid identification document.
