Steenberg Shaken by Deadly Gang-Related Shooting

Published on

Two lives were tragically cut short last night in Steenberg, while two others were left wounded in what police believe was a gang-related attack.

According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, detectives are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“‘SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident at Pickerill Street and on arrival found the bodies of the two deceased with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. As well as the two injured victims who were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. It is alleged that a white vehicle stopped and three unidentified men got out and entered the gate and started shooting at the occupants.”

Steenberg CPF chairperson Nicola Small says the community is gripped by fear, as yet another wave of gun violence tears through their neighborhood.

“People are scared, and the fear runs deep. But at some point, we have to draw the line and say enough is enough. We must stand up to those who make us feel unsafe in our own communities.”
