Zimbabwean Man in Court Over R2 Million Mandrax Bust

A 44-year-old Zimbabwean man is expected to appear in the Kuilsriver Magistrates’ Court today, 14 September 2026, after police seized 41 000 mandrax tablets worth an estimated R2.05 million in Kraaifontein over the weekend.

The man was driving a Volvo truck and was arrested on Saturday during a joint operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Flying Squad and Crime Intelligence.

Police say they received information about a truck allegedly carrying drugs from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

SAPS spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala says police spotted the truck and stopped it at a petrol station on the N1.

“A search was conducted, and police found two duffel bags containing mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R2.05 million.”

The man was arrested and faces charges of possessing and dealing in drugs.
