Portugal will give a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to people aged 65 and older from next week.

These first recipients will be the most vulnerable groups such as residents of old-age homes and people who are 80 years and older.

The country has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world with 85% of its adult population that has been fully vaccinated.

These supplemental doses of the vaccine can only be given six months after the first two doses.
