Cape Town International Airport has reached a major milestone, welcoming over one million passengers in October, a figure usually recorded only in December.

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) says the record-breaking performance signals a strong start to the festive travel season and reflects growing confidence in the tourism and aviation sectors.

ACSA spokesperson Ofentse Dijoe says the company will continue working closely with partners to ensure smooth and safe travel during the busy months ahead.

“As the festive season approaches, the focus remains on delivering efficient, safe, and welcoming airport services. The early growth in passenger numbers reflects the strength of South Africa’s tourism and aviation sectors, supported through ongoing collaboration with the Air Access Steering Committee.”

Dijoe also expressed appreciation to airport partners and travellers for their cooperation as the airport manages record volumes within its existing infrastructure.

“With this early surge in travel, we kindly remind everyone to arrive three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights to allow enough time for check-ins, security screenings, and boarding.”
