B97 taxi-route monitored for any incidences of shooting or taxi-violence

Published on

The Western Cape MEC for Transport, Daylin Micthell says several police members, traffic officers and members of the army were deployed this morning  to curb further taxi-related violence.

This, after the taxi route between Paarl and Bellville was officially closed today, for a period of two months.

Mitchell says there were no shootings or other taxi-violence reported by 7:30.

Law enforcers are ready to respond if any incidents are reported  with members of the military deployed in high-risk areas.

The Golden Arrow bus service has made buses available on the route between the Paarl and Bellville and, according to Mitchell, commuters can also make use of Metrorail train services.
