Western Cape police have launched a manhunt after five people were fatally shot at a house in Langa on Saturday night.

Police responded to a shooting complaint in Winnie Mandela Street, Phase 3, at around 10:45pm.

On arrival, officers found four men and a woman with gunshot wounds. All five victims died at the scene. One of the deceased men has been identified as a 28-year-old.

The motive for the attack has not yet been established.

Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including information that the premises may have been used for drug-related activities.

No arrests have been made at this stage, with detectives following several leads to establish what happened and identify those responsible.

Western Cape Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has condemned the attack and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.

“The senseless loss of five lives is deeply concerning and cannot be tolerated,” Dyantyi said.

He said police would continue to mobilise all available resources to tackle violent crime and improve the safety of communities.
