31 suspects arrested in connection with the recent violence and murders in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal

Police Minister Bheki Cele says 31 people have been arrested in connection with the recent violence and murders in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal.

Cele visited the Lamontville community in Durban yesterday, following the shooting death of a 33-year-old woman there last week.

According to reports, the woman was shot dead by members of the police.

The Minister said 12 people had been arrested for inciting violence and looting in the two provinces, in early July.

More than 330 people were killed in the violence.
