As Corona marks its 100th anniversary, the beer brand is honouring a century of beach culture with the launch of Corona Beach 100. This is a global guide spotlighting the world’s most amazing coastal destinations.
Among the international list, several South African beaches have proudly made the cut, showcasing the country’s natural beauty on a world stage.
Fun fact: they are all in the Western Cape.
Unveiled on 29 April 2025 in Cape Town, the Corona Beach 100 guide features a unique ‘Sun Rating’ system, reminiscent of Michelin stars but focused on nature’s splendour. The ratings – one, two or three suns – were awarded by a panel of oceanographers, surfers, free divers, and environmentalists, evaluating each beach’s impact and allure.
South Africa’s Kraalbaai in Langebaan received the prestigious three-sun rating, praised for its serene lagoon and unspoilt charm.
Boulders Beach, famous for its resident penguin colony, was awarded two suns, for its tranquil atmosphere and remarkable wildlife.
Nature’s Valley near Plettenberg Bay and the iconic Camps Bay in Cape Town each earned a one-sun rating, marking them as destinations worth the trip for both local and international travellers.
This global guide is a cornerstone of Corona’s centennial celebrations, encouraging people worldwide to reconnect with nature and embrace the relaxed, outdoor lifestyle the brand has long championed.
“Corona has always been deeply rooted in outdoor living. Through the Corona Beach 100, we hope to inspire more people to appreciate the natural beauty around them,” said Vaughan Croeser, Vice President of Marketing at South African Breweries.
