14 Springbok-players tests positive for Covid-19

Published on

The Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi and 25 other players and staff in the Bok camp have tested positive for Covid-19.

Netwerk-24 reports that almost an entire team of players – 14 in total – have tested positive for the virus which leaves serious questions about the Boks’ preparation for the long-awaited Test series against the British and Irish Lions .

Because all the players and staff in the Bok group have been vaccinated, it seems that those who do have the virus have very mild or no symptoms.

Some of the players who tested positive include Kolisi, Frans Malherbe, Kwagga Smith, Handre Pollard, Scarra Ntubeni and Bongi Mbonambi.

If Kolisi does not recover in time, Lukhanyo Am will probably lead the team.
