After a career spanning 46 years, the Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, will be hanging up his boots today.

After turning 65 on 4 July this year, Africa will now be ending his tenure at the traffic Department, after starting off as a Traffic Officer in Worcester, in 1974, at the age of 18.

Africa says it will take a while take to get used to not getting up for work at 4-am anymore.

He told Smile Breakfast’s Bobby and Lindi he will probably still keep himself busy over the next few months by assisting in traffic matters.

He’s been the voice of Western Cape Traffic, on air most days, since 1997.
