The country has recorded 8 791 new cases of Covid-19 over the latest 24-hour monitoring period.

Another 178 people have died, with the death toll now on 72 191. More than 6-point-5 million people have so far been vaccinated against the virus.
Over the weekend, the acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi received 2.8 million Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine doses from the US government. The next batch of 5.6 million doses will arrive tomorrow (Tuesday). SA is in the midst of a deadly third wave of infections, driven by the Delta variant which was first detected in India.
