Western Cape MEC for Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier, says the province spent close to R700 million procuring PPE from small Capetonian businesses.
This, as Provincial Treasury yesterday released the second edition of the Procurement Disclosure Report which shows that R669 million, or 47-percent of the province’s Covid-19 expenditure budget, has been spent on buying PPE from small, micro- and medium enterprizes (SMMEs).
Maynier says in total, R682 million has been spent on purchasing PPE, while R575 million was spent on other Covid-19 expenditure.
