Millions of children work in hazardous environments, World Day Against Child Labour

The weekend saw the observation of the World Day Against Child Labour – an annual event to raise awareness of the consequences of child labour on children. According to a report by the International Labour Organisation and UNICEF, at least 160 million children above the age of 5 are involved in child labour. Child labour could rise by 8.9 million by the end of this year due to higher poverty and vulnerability.
