Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says he hopes that the City of Cape Town taking over train services is the first of many functions the municipality will take over from national government. At the Council Meeting yesterday, Hill-Lewis confirmed that National Treasury has given the go-ahead for a feasibility study to take place. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says the study will show whether it’s viable for the City to take over rail services. The mayor says they have a plan to take over from the Passenger Rail Service.
