When it comes to celeb gossip, where is the line between having an opinion about a certain celeb and just being a straight-up bully? Cardi B seems to have drawn that line VERY clearly!
Cardi B (whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar) has always been the topic of much discussion and has also been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism ever since she entered the public eye. The rap superstar has always been very honest about her past & what she’s done to get to where she is now – something I actually respect her for quite a lot. Cardi B has made it no secret that she came from nothing and did some pretty interesting things to become the global success we all know her to be today. And I love her for it!

But, a certain somebody seems to have taken their opinion of Cardi B to quite a level & has now paid the price for it (literally). Enter Tasha K, a YouTuber and producer of her own podcast, unWinewithTashaK. She made some pretty serious allegations against Cardi B that have landed her and her team in very hot water that she just could not get out of. On one of her podcast episodes in 2019, she accused Cardi B of being a drug addict, having a sexually transmitted disease & once working as a prostitute. And while Cardi is very open about her past as an exotic dancer, these allegations could not have been further from the truth…and Miss Cardi was NOT having it.
She has since filed a lawsuit of defamation after the podcast episode sparked some pretty malicious rumours that Cardi B stated in her lawsuit documents caused her to “suffer embarrassment, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional distress”.
Cardi B eventually won the case and was awarded a total of $4 million (upwards of R62 million) in damages, including covering the cost of medical expenses & punitive damages. GO CARDI!!!
Why am I happy but sad at the same time?

If there is anything that you and I can take from this situation, it’s that we really need to be mindful of what we say about people – regardless of whether they are a globally famous superstar or just the neighbour across the street. Something I like to remind myself of whenever I want to say something about someone, is that I ask myself how I would feel if someone made the same comments about me, who I am or what I do. If my answer is that I would like it very much, it might be one of those times where it’s best to rather say nothing at all…
As the age-old saying goes, sticks & stones…well, you know the rest!
