Cape Town ready to host Betway SA20 final

Published on

This Saturday, 10 February, the curtain falls on what has been an exciting season of the Betway SA20.

The City of Cape Town is partnering with the SA20 League to host the Betway SA20 Final.

The picturesque Newlands Cricket Ground will host the already sold out Betway SA20 Final where Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be defending its title against winners of today’s playoff game between Durban’s Super Giants and the Joburg Super Kings.

Under the shadow of Table Mountain and in front of around 17 000 spectators, the final will draw to a close a 34-game tournament that has featured world-class cricket action in six different cities.

‘The Betway SA20 has provided some incredible action on the field for fans, an amazing fan experience at the stadiums and great advertisement for South African cricket. For us as a host city, the tournament and hosting the Betway SA20 Final has presented an opportunity for us to promote Cape Town as a premier events and tourism destination to a wide global audience. Cape Town is ready to welcome all the spectators for a memorable experience and we’re looking forward to the explosive showcase of world-class cricket,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith.

A ticket to the final will also get spectators a front row seat to some entertainment including a performance by award-winning singer, Lady Zamar, who is set to thrill fans during the pre-match closing ceremony, and some DJs.

Fans will also be entertained by a brass band, stilt walkers, balloon artists, glitter make-up artists, magicians, bubble machines, human statues and mirror men.

Gates at Newlands will open at 14:30 for the 17:30 kick-off.

Motorists and residents are advised that Campground Road will be closed from 12:00.
