The 2019 Golden Games for Older Persons ended with a bang for team Western Cape, after they secured the second place at this annual event for senior citizens. The event which was first held in the Western Cape in 2010, gained popularity in most of the other provinces since then. All participants who competed at these games are 60 years old and older. A group of former matriculants, over the weekend, raised over R60 000 towards drought relief for their former school. The 1989 Matric Class of High School Namaqualand in Springbok recently got together for their 30th reunion celebrations in Durbanville.
