A group of former matriculants, over the weekend, raised over R60 000 towards drought relief for their former school.

The 1989 Matric Class of High School Namaqualand in Springbok recently got together for their 30th reunion celebrations in Durbanville.

At the reunion they raised funds for their former school, as well as the town, they grew up in.

Most of the former matriculants currently live in Cape Town.

One of the former learners Elida Keyser, says some of the funds will go towards struggling families of learners, living on school premises.
