A woman was shot dead near the Post Office in Gatesville, in Athlone. Her boyfriend, who was with her, was wounded in the same attack, but survived. It’s alleged that there may have been a hit on her boyfriend. Athlone Police believe that the attack could be gang-related.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi from the Provincial Media Office says the 20-year-old woman was walking with a 24-year-old man in Gatesville on Sunday morning when unknown suspects fired shots at them.

Attack on a woman could be gang-related

 

He says she was fatally wounded, and while her boyfriend sustained gunshot wounds, he survived the attack. The suspects fled the scene. No one has been apprehended in connection with this attack yet.
