Listen: Grade 10 and 11 year-end exams scrapped

Published on

The Department of Basic Education says it has scrapped this year’s Grade 10 and 11 end-of-year exams.

The examinations have been replaced with controlled tests.

The department says that several interruptions in the academic year contributed to learners not being able to complete their curriculum.

Department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says provision will be made for more teaching-time in 2021.

Mhlanga says this will ensure that learners catch-up with the work they missed this year.
