5 Foods You Should Always Buy Frozen and not Fresh

Published on

Fresh fruit and Veg are amazing, obviously, but often they can spoil or go to waste if you haven’t got round to using them, and that’s why frozen veggies are amazing.

Don’t be fooled into thinking frozen means you won’t get the same nutrients as fresh – it’s a myth that’s been bust time and time again.

1. Frozen Spinach: Frozen spinach is the gem of the freezer section, it is so versatile and much cheaper than fresh. There’s definitely merit to both fresh and frozne – fresh spinach leaves is an easy salad base, while frozen can be added to virtually anything you’re already making using the stove. Add frozen spinach to pasta dishes, stews, smoothies, and even omelettes.2. Chopped Onions: Buying chopped onions frozen saves time and tears. They’re a double-time saver because first, you’re not chopping the onions, and second, they’re already softened.

3. Stir-Fry Blend: Speaking of saving time, buying a pre-chopped frozen blend will save you tons of it. Add a quick sauce, rice, and protein, and dinner is on the table.

4. Edamame: Pre-shelled edamame to add to a vegetarian stir-fry or a twist on rice and beans. It’s also an easy, healthy snack and kids love it too. Just 30 seconds in the microwave and it’s ready.

5. Berries: These are amazing to add to smoothies and create your own sorbet. Look for the no added sugar frozen berries.
