Eskom says that its teams are actively working to fix widespread electricity outages across parts of the Western Cape caused by severe weather.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the utility has made significant progress in restoring electricity to several vulnerable communities. However, areas such as Eersterivier, Jamestown, Leiden, Delft, and Nomzamo remain without power as its technical teams face challenging weather conditions while assessing damaged infrastructure.
“Eskom recovery teams are working around the clock under severe weather conditions to systematically repair damaged infrastructure and restore electricity supply to towns affected across the Western Cape. Despite challenging conditions, technical teams remain fully mobilised and committed to safely restoring power to all impacted communities as swiftly as possible.”
Eskom says it is coordinating with Provincial Disaster Management to understand where damage has occurred and which areas are currently too unsafe or inaccessible for repair teams to work in.
“We urge customers to remain patient while its response teams navigate these conditions to safely attend to the multiple faults and restore power supply.”
