The body of a 26-year-old woman was found in a dwelling on Tuesday night, leading to Bishop Lavis Police opening an inquest docket. In the same room, officers also found the body of a 30-year-old man, who was hanging with a cord tied around his neck.

Members were called out to Inkblom Street in Kalksteenfontein on Tuesday, 7 October 2025. According to a police report, the body of the 26-year-old female was found lying facedown on a bed. Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says she had visible marks all over her body. In the same room, officers found a 30-year-old man.

Swartbooi says both adults were declared deceased at the scene. At this stage, the motive has not yet been established, but Bishop Lavis Police have registered an inquest for further probing. Officer Swartbooi says the circumstances surrounding the incident are the subject of an investigation by the South African Police Service.
