ICYM the moment a tourist fought off a kangaroo

Published on

A video on TikTok shows an American tourist having a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a kangaroo at the Cohunu Koala Park, Australia. The video shows a woman trying to get away from a kangaroo, before a man steps in to help. The woman, Courtney Carter, told the BBC that she was screaming for help for ‘several minutes’ before the man stepped in.

He then spends the duration of the video fending off the aggressive roo! Watch Carter’s interview right here:

Your chance to fight a kangaroo!

“My dad was just trying to make that kangaroo stopped getting frisky with that lady,” the man’s daughter (@brooke.so.hip) captioned the TikTok. A voice behind the camera shouts: Here’s your chance to fight a kangaroo. This is followed by laughter reports the Daily Mail. The video has since been removed from her profile.

In the video, the kangaroo is seen standing on its hind legs, flailing its arms, as the man tried to hold the animal back with one hand. The man was later seen lightly kicking the kangaroo away as it came at it him.

A younger man, reportedly the man’s son, comes onto screen to help. Both men then try to keep the animal at bay by holding the kangaroo’s front paws. But this does nothing to deter the roo from launching both of its legs at them while balancing on its tail.

The pair try to just walk away, but the kangaroo follows them, kicking and scratching.

Users on TikTok were nonetheless, entertained! Some users, says Insider, were certain that the kangaroo was taunting the man.

Things finally settled after a zoo staff member intervened, allowing the two the men to finally walk away from the brawl. ‘Cut it out, cut it out, naughty boy,’ the staff member was heard saying. The marsupial crouched back down at the scolding.

The men reportedly walked away with several scratches.
