Grammy Award-winning South African icon, Lebo M, takes to the stage for the very first time in a live concert performance, celebrating three decades since the legendary chant Nants’ ingonyama roared onto the global stage with The Lion King.

Taking place on Friday at the Grand Arena in Cape Town, Lebo M Live with Special Guest Hans Zimmer is marking a pivotal moment in African music history.

Lebo M, born Lebohang Morake, is globally recognised as “The Voice and Spirit of The Lion King”. From his early work on The Power of One to composing for major films like Dinosaur, The Woman King, and Return to Pride Rock, his sound has defined African storytelling for nearly 40 years.

“My music is – and always will be – rooted in home soil, and I couldn’t be more excited about staging my first live concert season in Cape Town. The music from The Lion King not only touched hearts and minds around the world, it continues to provide an inspirational platform to uplift local talent.” said Lebo M, in a statement.

Now, he returns to his home country, with a line-up of special guests including the Soweto Spiritual Singers, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Ndlovu Youth Choir, MiCasa, Refi Sings, Nkosinathi Shabalala and legendary Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer.

“I am thrilled that we have been partners, brothers, and friends since childhood. We began our journey creating films about Africa at a time when few were willing to do,” said Zimmer.
