President Cyril Ramaphosa says buying local is now more important than ever.
He was addressing delegates at the opening of the 2022 Buy Local Summit & Expo this week.
This annual summit is aimed at informing, educating, and equipping local entrepreneurs to create more employment opportunities using local procurement as a lever for growth.
Ramaphosa says the economic damage, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, has placed even greater demands on businesses to provide employment and livelihood opportunities.
Ramaphosa says the government is reducing red tape and removing the barriers to entry for emerging companies.
