New kid on the block, Action SA, walked away the biggest winner in the City of Johannesburg Municipality, managing to secure 44 seats in that metro.

The City has now been classified as a hung municipality, along with 65 other councils, where not a single party could manage to secure an outright majority. The ANC has managed to secure only 91 seats (33.6% of votes) in the Johannesburg metro, a decline of 121 seats from 2016. The DA has 71 seats with 26,14% of the votes. The party has lost 33 seats from 2016.
