South Africa has the 17th highest number of Covid-19 infections in the world, according to statistics from the World Health Organisation.

This while the WHO’s numbers are yet to be updated to include the 13 777 new cases recorded by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases on Thursday, as well as last night’s 13 652 new infections. The US has the highest number of cases reported since the outbreak, at more than 35 million, followed by India and Brazil.
