Several vehicles torched in Nyanga this morning

Published on

The City says several vehicles were torched this morning in the Nyanga area, in an apparent public transport dispute.

Golden Arrow Bus Service had to move their loading area to the side of the N2 on Borcherd’s Quarry Road to avoid being targeted.

The Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security JP Smith says during the peak hour traffic a number of Avanza vehicles drove around petrol-bombing vehicles.

“I’ve called on the MEC for Transport to invoke the maximum extent of his regulatory powers in relation to the conduct of some of these public transport operators and I’ve asked senior staff in the city to intensify our operations in the area to ensure that law and order prevails.”
