Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has warned pupils, teachers, coaches, and parents to be extra cautious during school activities to avoid a third wave of Covid-19. This as government has gazetted its decision to lift the ban on school sporting events. These activities include sports matches, physical education, extra-curricular activities, and any school sports tournaments. Motshekga says that although no spectators are allowed and events are subject to compliance to strict hygiene and safety measures, there are a number of safety precautions that pupils, coaches, and teachers should adhere to in order to stay safe.
