With the third covid-19 wave that’s expected to hit the Western Cape this week, residents have been urged to increase their vigilance to avoid a further spread of the virus.

The province’s Health Department says it has seen a consistent, daily increase in infections in the province over the past 4 weeks. Premier Alan Winde says, for now, everyone who qualifies for vaccination must register and get their injection.

Meanwhile, the Head of Health, Dr Keith Cloete says it’s especially people in affluent neighbourhoods in the Mother City, who have contracted covid-19 over the past 2 weeks, which has led to the significant increase in infections in the Metro. This as the province is on the verge of its third wave of covid-19.
