Two neglected lionesses have been rescued from a failed zoo in Spain and flown to South Africa where they will live at a big cat sanctuary in the Western Cape’s Overberg region. The international wildlife charity Born Free partnered with British Airways Holidays to fly the cats called Alpha and Cora, from London to Cape Town.
They then traveled by road to the Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary near Stanford. Dr Chris Draper of Born Free says rescues such as these would not be possible without their partners.
