The Comrades’ Association has revised its position on unvaccinated athletes for this year’s Comrades ultramarathon.

The association says the adjustments come after President Cyril Ramaphosa relaxed Covid’s 19 measures earlier this week.

The organizers of the race say unvaccinated athletes will be allowed to take part this year, provided they can provide proof of a negative coronavirus test result obtained within 72 hours of the day of the marathon at their own expense.

International athletes must provide proof that they have been vaccinated, otherwise, they must show a negative PCR test.
