Cabinet recently approved changes to the Adjusted Alert Level 1 Covid-19 regulations after the Department of Health reported that South Africa has exited the fourth wave.

Based on the trajectory of the pandemic and the levels of vaccination in the country, Cabinet has decided to make the following changes to Adjusted Alert Level 1:

– those who test positive with no symptoms do not have to isolate

– if you test positive with symptoms, the isolation period has been reduced from 10 to seven days.

The City says it aligns itself with all nationally approved Covid-19 protocols, as such, the following applies at all City facilities:

  • Symptom screening must continue as it is a legal requirement, and every visitor to any City facility will be required to have their hands sanitised and you will need to complete the screening form provided by the delegated authority.
  • Temperature measurement is no longer required or recommended for Covid-19 screening. It is not a legal requirement, and residents and visitors will no longer be required to have their temperatures taken.
  • The number of patrons allowed at City facilities has been increased. Based on the current Covid-19 lockdown regulations, the maximum capacity of patrons will be allowed into a facility. The maximum capacity is determined at the discretion of the facility management at each facility.
  • Wearing of masks is mandatory.
