Camps Bay police have opened an inquest docket after the body of the Delft teen, who went missing at Bakoven beach last weekend, was found.

According to police, the body of the 18-year-old (who has been identified as Nafees Isaacs) was discovered on the rocks at Beta beach on Friday morning, 3 October.

The teen went missing on Saturday, 27 September, after reportedly being washed off the rocks at Bakoven while sitting with a group of friends.

Police have confirmed that the body that was found fits the description of the 18-year-old who was reported missing. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Emergency services were alerted after the teenager, who was part of a group of young adults gathered on the rocks, disappeared and was feared to have slipped into the water during the incoming high tide.

Responding teams included WC Government Health EMS, the NSRI Emergency Operations Centre, SAPS, the Water Policing and Diving Services unit, City of Cape Town Law Enforcement, Metro Rescue, and NSRI Bakoven volunteers.
