Teenager killed in Philippi-East, three other teenagers injured

Philippi East police are investigating one murder case and three attempted murder cases after four teenagers were shot in Phillipi East on Tuesday.

 

According to police, the teenagers, aged between 16 and 19 years old, were part of a group of eight young boys who were allegedly drinking at a wendy house 3888 Block 9, Lower Cross Roads, just before 14:00 on Tuesday afternoon.

 

It is alleged that an unidentified man entered the wendy house where the boys were sitting and fired several shots at the teenagers.

 

A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed, and three boys aged between 18 and 19 sustained gunshot wounds. The three injured victims were taken to two nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

 

According to Police Captain F.C. Van Wyk, the motive for this attack now forms part of the police investigation.

 

“We appeal to anyone with information to please call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously.”
