Selena Gomez is giving us Summer vibes with her new dance track “Single Soon’. The song dropped at midnight on Friday and is not your typical break up song.
The infectious tunes give a joyful take on breaking up, with Gomez dumping her supposed bo for a night out with friends. In “Single Soon” she sings about her excitement heading back to the single life.
It’s clear that Selena is happy being single – and ready to mingle! “We both had a lot of fun / Time to find another one / Blame it all on feelin’ young”.
Selena teased the new release earlier this month on social media. “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while”, she wrote. “Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer”.

In the video Selena seems to be ending things with a boyfriend. Her breakup message – which is often something people dread – is casually written on a post-it note and left on a countertop. Ahead of this song’s release, Selena teased this breakup scene on her social media.

It is actually in reference to a scene from Sex and the City, where Jack Berger breaks up with Carrie Bradshaw via a note in the show.
Selena celebrates life outside a relationship
Selena’s last public relationship was with singer Justin Bieber, who she had dated from around 2010 to 2018.
But the songstress seems to be in a happy relationship with herself, now more confident to share it with the world. Even poking fun of her singledom on her TikTok page. And Single Soon is testament to how she now views dating – specifically being a single pringle.
Fans have been waiting long and hard for Selena to make a comeback to the music scene. She dropped an album in 2020 Rare, which included the heartbreaking hit Lose You To Love Me.
