The Proteas are in control after 50-overs of play in Paarl, thanks to Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen. The two raked in a massive 204-run partnership, after linking up in the middle with the score on 68 for three.
The Captain, unfortunately, fell just 3-runs short of equalling his all-time highest One-Day International total. After playing an incredible innings to rescue his side, Bavuma lofted a Jasprit Bumrah delivery down KL Rahul’s throat at Long-On. Bavuma sent packing on 110 (143).
Rassie van der Dussen supported his captain well out in the middle. While Bavuma fell just a couple of overs before the end of the innings, Van der Dussen managed to see things through. The 32-year old finishing on an unbeaten, career-best total of 129* (96).
The match is still hanging in the balance. The fate of the first ODI now rests in the hands of the bowlers.
India needs 297-runs to win.
