MTV EMAs Full list of Winners + Categories

Taylor Swift walked away as the top artist at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. Rita Ora and Taika Waititi co-hosted the show – which featured performances by Muse and Gorillaz among others.

 

The event was held the PSD Bank Dome in Germany. It saw Harry Styles as the top nominee with seven nods, and receiving one award – Best Live. The category was reintroduced following a two-year break caused by the pandemic.

 

Back to the woman of the hour. Taylor Swift took home four awards – Best Artist, Best Video, Best Pop and Best Long form Video. This is Swift’s second win for Best Video, the other being her collaboration with Brendon Urie.

 

 

Night Full of Stars

This year’s show introduced two new categories: Best Long form Video (Taylor Swift) and Best Metaverse Performance (BLACKPINK).

 

The Best Song award went to Nicki Minaj for her hit Super Freaky Girl. She also received the Best Hip Hop award. David Ghuetta won Best Collaboration for I’m Good (Blue) with Bebe Rexha, and Best Electronic.

K-pop Grabbing Attention

K-pop artists cape out on top at the Awards.

 

Boy group, SEVENTEEN won the Best New and Best Push awards. They were also nominated for the Best K-pop Award. This latter was snatched by BLACKPINK member Lisa.

TXT won the EMA’s Best Asia Act award.

 

Music Galore at the MTVs

In MTV-fashion, the show saw appearances by Lauren Spencer Smith, David Hasselhoff, Sam Ryder and Julian Lennon.

 

Musical performances included that by OneRepublic, with their I Ain’t Worried hit from the blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. Ava Max, Stormzy featuring Debbie, Lewis Capaldie, Nasty C and Tate McRae performed at the show. The line-up also included a performance from Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra, and Thundercat (with Gorillaz).

Rising star, Armani White, performed his hit single Billie Eilish during the EMA red carpet show.

 

 

Awards for Good

The 2022 MTV EMA Generation Change Award went to three Ukrainian women. Lina Deshvar, Anna Kutova and Anfisa Yankovina received the award for their fight and care of those impacted by the humanitarian crisis in the country.

 

The honorees were selected in partnership with Choose Love – a NPO that provides aid to refugees around the world.
