Metro Police seized dagga worth more than R180,000 at a long-distance bus terminal in Bellville on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

According to Metro Police spokesperson Ruth Solomons, officers received a tip-off about a man allegedly carrying drugs and immediately made their way to the bus station to track down the suspect.

“Officers received a tip at approximately 17:30 and made their way to the bus station, armed with a description of the suspect. On arrival, they tracked down the individual.”

Solomons says the suspect was found in possession of a large green bag containing 23 vacuum-sealed parcels of what he confirmed to be dagga. The suspect has since been arrested.

“The man could not provide any lawful reason or documentation for the drugs in his possession and was arrested and detained at Bellville SAPS.”

The dagga weighed 23 kilograms and was estimated to have a street value of R184,000.
