This October, in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Pharma Dynamics is introducing an innovative initiative titled “Give Yourself Your Flowers.”

The campaign features a striking giant flower installation at Cape Town Station, located on Adderley Street, from October 9 to 11, designed to promote self-love and resilience.

The installation invites the public to interact with oversized, emotion-infused flowers, emphasizing the uplifting power of simple gestures, such as giving flowers to oneself or others.

Each bloom symbolizes a different emotion, aiming to spark positive feelings and encourage meaningful conversations about mental health.

Nicole Jennings, a spokesperson for Pharma Dynamics, shared the motivation behind the initiative:

“We aimed to create something that not only raises awareness about mental health but also brings joy. Flowers can light up spaces and lift spirits, and we wanted to harness that power to foster discussions on well-being. This campaign is about more than just flowers; it’s about the emotions they evoke.”

Scientific research underpins the choice of flowers in the campaign.

Studies indicate that receiving flowers can elevate dopamine levels—the brain’s pleasure chemical—contributing to feelings of happiness.

One long-term study showed that flowers elicit genuine smiles and positive emotions across all demographics.

Additionally, another study found that individuals who received flowers displayed more positive social behaviour than those given other items.

For the elderly, it has been shown to enhance mood and memory, showcasing their lasting emotional benefits.

Through “Give Yourself Your Flowers,” Pharma Dynamics aims to create a vibrant, interactive space that encourages the public to pause, reflect, and engage with their mental health in a joyful way, reminding everyone of the simple yet profound impact of kindness and self-care.
