Cape Town has been rated the 5th friendliest City in the World by Conde Nast readers in the UK.

The Conde Nast 2024 Readers Choice Awards was released at the start of October, where the best resorts, best hotels, best cities and best countries are rated, this year only by UK readers of the travel magazine.

According to their readers, the friendliest City in the world is Singapore, closely followed by Sydney and Las Vegas closing off the top three.

For those who have had the pleasure of travelling to Thailand, the land of a thousand smiles, it should come as no surprise that Bangkok is also among the world’s friendliest Cities, coming in fourth.

Our Mother City, Cape Town, was hot on the heels of Bangkok in the scoring, coming in a close fifth place.

Conde Nast lists some of the remarkable scenery Cape Town offers, from Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, and Robben Island, but does not mention what makes Cape Town a friendly city.

Cape Town is no stranger to raking in the accolades and was recently voted ”The Greatest City on Earth” by the Telegraph Travel Awards.

The Top 10 Friendliest Cities, according to Conde Nast readers:

10. New York,
9. Chicago, Illinois, US
8. Hong Kong, China
7. Marrakech, Morocco
6. Tokyo, Japan
5. Cape Town, South Africa
4. Bangkok, Thailand
3. Las Vegas, Nevada, US
2. Sydney, Australia
