Dozens of Smileys and Smile 90.4FM staff dedicated their 67 Minutes for Madiba to a marathon soup kitchen stationed outside our studios this morning. Hundreds of Cape Town’s destitute queued for a steamy bowl of vegetable soup, prepared on site by the volunteers, who all chopped, stirred and served en masse and in scheduled rotation.

The initiative kicked off early on #MandelaDay and saw hundreds other office workers from the area joining in throughout the day. The location also offered homeless people an opportunity to “shop” for a “new” outfit from a pop-up store of donated clothing.
