The Worldwide Fund for Nature in South Africa has welcomed the publication of new regulations, that will require producers to take responsibility for what happens to their products after they have been used.
This comes after the Department of the Environment last week gazetted regulations for a mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility-scheme.
The scheme will see that producers of lighting-, electrical and electronic equipment, and producers in the paper and packaging sectors, take more responsibility for their products, post-consumption.

De Kock says the initiative will help boost recycling-efforts across the country.
