The only child of rock ‘n roll legend Elvis, Lisa Marie Presley, has died at the age of 54.
Her 77-year-old mother, Priscilla Presley said, “it is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.” Priscilla also said that Lisa Marie was ‘the most passionate, strong and loving woman’ she had ever known. The Presley’s asked for privacy as they deal with the ‘profound loss’.
Lisa Marie was suddenly rushed to hospital on Thursday, with media reports saying she suffered cardiac arrest.
Presley’s sudden passing came as a great shock to the world, as she attended the Golden Globes just two days prior to her hospitalisation. She and her mother were seen breaking down in tears when Austin Butler accepted the Best Actor prize for his performance as the King, her father.
Presley remarked Austin’s performance as ‘mind-blowing‘ during a red carpet interview, “I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it.”

A family affair
But days before this, she was seen in Memphis, at Graceland – the mansion where Elvis lived. The family was celebrating her father’s birthday on January 8th.
She became the sole heir of the Elvis Presley Trust when her father died in 1977. The trust managed Graceland and other assets until she sold her majority interest back in 2005. She retained ownership of the Graceland Mansion and the land around it. Members of the Presley family, including her late father and son, are buried there.
Lisa Marie Presley was also know for her many high-profile marriages including one with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. She also married actor Nicholas Cage, and musicians Michael Lockwood and Danny Keough.
She is survived by her three children, including a young set of twins and actress Riley Keough. Her son, Benjamin Keough killed himself in 2020.
The voice and charisma of Elvis
She reportedly shared her father’s charisma and sultry voice. Eventually, she followed him into the music industry, making her debut in 2003 with the album, To Whom It May Concern. This album would prove a great success, landing in the Top 10 of the Bilboard 200 album chart. Two years later, she released Now What, which also garnered the top 10.
Her third album, Storm and Grace, was released in 2012. This album become memorable after she recorded her vocals over Elvis recordings. The album also includes, Don’t Cry Daddy, which is a mournful ballad that reminded Elvis of the early death of his mother – Gladys Presley.
