Lion’s Head attacker due in court

Published on

A 23-year-old man is scheduled to appear in court, on Wednesday 24 January 2024, after he allegedly robbed and attempted to rape a woman at Lion’s Head, at the weekend.

It’s understood the woman had gone for a hike, on Sunday, when she was accosted by the suspect. Swift action by authorities led to the man’s apprehension.

He’s due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court.

Just last month – rangers from the South African National Parks, the City of Cape Town‘s Tourism Unit and other officials arrested a suspect in the same vicinity, after he was found in possession of a firearm. According to SANParks at the time, once the suspect was detained, a knife was also found in his possession, as well as a realistic-looking imitation firearm.
